As it is very different from that on other 1882 Stars to the battalion, it is tempting to see the naming of Booth's Star as dubious, if not actually bogus, but there is no evidence to support such a claim. Lavis's 1882 Star is also named in atypical fashion, and together these two examples suggest that only a proportion of 1882 Stars to the battalion were regimentally impressed.
